Senior Kameron Verdier (left, left photo ) won The Eclipse March Madness Challenge and a $10 gift card, which is presented to him by The Eclipse editor in chief Ryan Thomas. Senior Marcus Moss (left, right photo) receives his $5 gift card from being the runner-up.

Seniors Kameron Verdier and Marcus Moss finished first and second, respectively, in the second annual Eclipse March Madness Challenge.

Verdier walked away with a $10 McDonald’s gift card, and Moss earned one worth $5.

After competing last year, Verdier was ecstatic about finally beating a bitter rival — Mr. Darrick Puffer, his former English teacher.

“I’m just happy that I beat Mr. Puffer. He won it last year, and I had to make sure I beat him this time,” Verdier said.

Moss said the competition was “a lot of fun,” and that he is glad he did well.

“I don’t know that much about college basketball, but I picked North Carolina for Mr. (Chris) Torok. He believes in them and I know they’re a good team,” Moss said. “It worked out, and I’m happy I walked away with $5.”
