Coach Paul Adas talks strategy in the huddle. The Hornets came back from a 19-point deficit to beat Swartz Creek.

The boys’ basketball team downed Swartz Creek 58-52 on Dec. 12 after rallying from a 19-point deficit.

Senior Jallen Gallery said the Hornets never gave up in their second road game this year and fought hard in the second half.

“The intensity and drive we played with in the third and final quarter comes to show that it is not impossible to comeback after being down 19,” Gallery said.

Gallery led the team with 16 points.

Senior Anton Webster chipped in 13 points.

“Tonight we played hard, and as a team,” Webster said. “When we work hard and play as a team, the score shows what can happen.”

Junior Coi Jenkins added 12 points for the Hornets, and senior Bryce Jenkins scored eight.

Coach Paul Adas said Kearsley (2-0, 1-0) is not going to be an easy win for its opponents.

“Kearsley has had a reputation of giving up when they’re down,” Adas said. “But tonight showed how we overcame adversity from the energy we brought in the third quarter.

“At one point in the game we were down 19, but when the boys played where I had expected them to play, it just shows what can happen.”
