Girls’ bowling strikes their way to two early wins

Senior Kayla Emmendorfer led the Hornets during the match against Swartz Creek on Dec. 9. Emmendorfer averaged a 209.

The girls’ bowling team won its first two matches of the season, defeating Swartz Creek 28-2 on Dec. 9 and knocking down Flushing 26-4 on Dec. 6.

Against Swartz Creek, the Hornets were led by Senior Kayla Emmendorfer who rolled a 234 and  184 for a total of 418 and an average of 209.

Emmendorfer was pleased with her performance.

“It was a good feeling,” she said. “I’m just glad I bowled well to help the team.”

Against Flushing, senior Haleigh Rybka led the team with a 209.5 average.

Rybka said, “Quite frankly, I didn’t know I led the team.”

Junior Alexxa Flood had the next best average for Kearsley with a 197.

Rybka said the match was a bit nerve wracking at first.

“I guess it was exciting,” Rybka said, “because it was our first match and it was against a team we’ve never bowled before.”
