Sophomore Marysa Gatica scored three goals in the last two games, leading the Hornets on offense.

Flushing 3, Kearsley 1

The soccer team lost to the Flushing Raiders 3-1 on Monday, April 25.

The Hornets were upset with their loss, but it was not surprising.

Kearsley’s lone goal was scored by sophomore Marysa Gatica.

Junior Alexis Kelly spoke her mind about the game.

“We played as hard as we could,” Kelly said. “We knew Flushing was going to be a hard team to beat.”

Kelly mentioned that the Hornets were down two starters, so it did not help their odds of winning.

Kearsley 2, Owosso 1

Gatica scored twice against Owosso, leading Kearsley past the Trojans 2-1 on Friday, April 22.

“I was honored to be able to score all the goals in both games (Owosso and Flushing),” Gatica said. “I was impressed with myself but I could not of done it without the help of my teammates.”

This was a great experience for the Hornets as they swarmed over Owosso.

Kelly talked about how great of an opportunity this game was.

“It was a cool experience,” Kelly said. “We were not able to support our other teams (during the K-O Clash) although we wished we could have.”

The Hornets have another game Wednesday, April 27, at Holly.
