Golf loses first match in tight contest
The golf team fell to Flushing 175-177 on Tuesday, April 12.
The Hornets were led by senior Brian Sams with 41 strokes.
Senior Tyler Phipps was the second leading scorer with 43 strokes, and third was junior Connor VanSteenburg with 45.
The Raiders’ top player, Jon Montpas, beat Sams by one stroke, finishing with 40 total.
Sams is disappointed by the team’s two-stroke loss.
“Our team needs to improve,” Sams said, “We had a let down and need to get ourselves together to win the Metro (League) as we expected.”
