The band concert on Tuesday, March 9, was a success.

All four of Kearsley’s bands played amazing concerts Tuesday, March 8.

The Symphonic Band is the high school band and is my favorite.

It played last, but it was the band in the concert for me.

The first song the Symphonic Band played was “Fidelity March” by King/Milford.

This song was joyous and upbeat. It gave me a wishful sense.

The band also played “Clear Lake Overture” by Hodges. This piece was lively and animated.

The last song was the highlight of the concert for me.

“Chant Rituals” by DelBorgo was a mix of strong and soft, light and hard.

In the middle of the song, the band actually began singing. The mix of human voices and the instruments was beautiful.

Although it seemed a bit creepy, it was still immensely beautiful.

It held so much emotion for my brother that he even started crying.

The concert began with the Beginning Band, which is always one of my favorites.

They played three pieces, my favorite being “Attack of the Slide Trombones” by Hannickel.

I really enjoyed the piece because I could tell that the students enjoyed playing it as much as I enjoyed listening to it.

The next band that played was the Varsity Band.

The Varsity Band is another middle school band, although better than the Beginning Band.

The Varsity Band also played three songs, beginning with “Meadowlawn March” by O’Reilly.

This was my favorite song they played because it reminded me of spring.

I also enjoyed their next song, “Two English Dances” by O’Reilly.

I enjoyed this song because it reminded me of a cartoon, like “Tom and Jerry.”

This band was smaller than the Beginning Band, but played just as beautifully.

The Concert Band played third, and its music was comparable to the Symphonic Band.

The first song was “Triumphal Overture” by McGinty. This piece was strong, but calm at the same time.

The next song was “Three Kentucky Sketches.” This song was soft, yet stern and reminded me of the sky.

The last song the Concert Band played was “Spartans of Tomorrow” by Balent. This song was well played and gave me joy.

As a lover of classical music, and an avid listener, this concert was something I really enjoyed.

In other exciting news from the concert, Mr. Michael Bregand, band teacher, announced that he and his wife are expecting their first child, a baby girl, in August.
