Open letter to my best friend: Thank you for sticking by me

Dear Best Friend,

I have come to the conclusion that you do not get all the credit you deserve. You are so much more than a friend; you are a sister.

Thank you for putting up with my quirkiness. You are one of the few that do.

You feed into it with weird pictures and videos that never fail to make me smile. We have always said that we would make an amazing reality show.

The jokes we tell are not easily forgotten. Sometimes, the looks you give me can have me laughing until my sides hurt.

Thank you for the encouragement.

When I am struggling with school, or whatever I’m bothered with, you always find a way to make me smile.

You encourage me to press on to get good grades when I am stressed out and build up my confidence when I feel helpless.

When we talk about our future, it scares me to think that I might not see you after high school.

But I hear you talk through how you want your life to be, what your dream college is, and what you plan on doing after college, including me in all of it.

To hear you involve me in your life plans makes me less nervous about losing my best friend.

Thank you for being curious.

When you ask questions, they usually end in Google searches that I would not research on my own. They can be as simple as a song lyric or as complex as our family trees.

Now, because of you, I have started to question subjects I do not completely understand and, together, we embark on a journey of research to understand.

Thank you for being kind.

You give off a vibe that makes people feel comfortable around you.

I know that I can tell you anything and you always make time for me, even when you might not have time for yourself.

Thank you for being who you are.

I can be awkward, loud, annoying, and difficult. You deal with all of it and continue to be my friend.

I do not know what I would do without you. I hope that we continue our friendship after high school because no one could compare to you.

Even though I don’t say it enough, thank you for being my best friend.
