Boys’ swim team takes fourth at league meet, Nowacki earns All-League

Boys swim team placed fourth at the Metro League Championship meet.

The 200-yard medley relay team broke the school record Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Metro League Championship.

Sophomore Ricky Jackson, senior Trent Kehoe, sophomore Noel Nowacki, and senior Montrell Herrington swam the relay in 1:47.64, and placed third at the meet.

Nowacki also set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke prelims with a time of 1:01.78, besting the old record by nearly a second and a half. In the final, Nowacki took first in 1:02.14, earning him first-team All-League.

Despite having only five swimmers, the Hornets placed fourth at the meet with 157 points.

Fenton finished in first place with 651 points, Swartz Creek was the runner-up with 523, and Brandon placed third with 296.

In addition, Jackson swam the 100 backstroke in 1:04.82, placing third, and received a third-team All-League award.

Kehoe also placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.09.

In diving, Herrington earned a score of 210.3, acquiring seventh place.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Nowacki, Kehoe, Jackson, and Herrington also placed third with a time of 1:39.14.

Nowacki, Kehoe, Herrington, and Jackson were awarded third-team All-League for each of their third place relay finishes.

The same relay team also placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming it in 3:49.83.

First year swimmer, Robert Parkhurst, sophomore, swam two personal records in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Nowacki will compete at the MHSAA state final on March 11 and 12 at Saginaw Valley State University.
