Flushing beats girls’ hoops
The girls’ basketball team faced off at Flushing on Friday, Feb. 5, losing 56-25.
In the first half, the Hornets failed to get the ball going offensively, only scoring seven points in the first quarter.
Flushing, on the other hand, dominated with 25 points in the second quarter.
At the end of the first half, the Hornets trailed the Raiders 43-15.
Junior Brandi Morgan led the team with eight points, knocking down two 3-pointers.
Senior Diane Bond and freshman MacKenzie Ramey combined for 12 points.
Bond contributed with two 3-pointers. She also chipped in defensively with two rebounds.
Ramey received her points with six free throws and six rebounds.
In the second half, the Hornets were able to slow down the Raiders offensively, limiting them to only 10 points in the third quarter and three points in the fourth. Kearsley was unable to come out with the win, however.
With the loss, the Hornets are now 3-12 overall and 1-9 in Metro League play.
The team next plays Linden on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m.
