Wrestling defeats Clio after being ranked in Top 10
The wrestling team defeated the Mustangs 44-27 on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Clio after being ranked ninth in the state in Division 2 three days earlier.
The wrestlers completed a perfect season with this win, going 7-0 in the Metro League.
In addition to the team being ranked in state competition, five Hornets are individually ranked.
At 140 pounds, senior Travis Wildfong is ranked third in the latest rankings, which were released Wednesday, Jan. 27.
Also in the Top 10, junior Reese Harburn holds the sixth spot (189), sophomore Andy Ruhstorfer is seventh (112), and junior Dylan Tarrence is ranked ninth (160 pounds).
Finally, senior Aaron Ruhstorfer received an honorable mention at the 119-pound weight class.
The Hornets will compete again Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Metro League Championship.
The Metro League title winner will be determined 50 percent from the results of the regular season and 50 percent from the results of the match on Saturday.
