Disney plans to release five movies this year

“You’re never too old for a little Disney magic.”

Walt Disney Company bought out Pixar in 2006.

Since then, Disney Pixar has been producing films nonstop.

For the first time since 2002, Walt Disney Animation Studios will release two feature films in the same year.

So whether you are looking for a good family night or a blast from the past, take a journey with Pixar as they release their upcoming movies.

Zootopia– March

Zootopia

Zootopia is a city like no other, where even in a world where animals rule and humans never existed there are still problems.

There are many differences among the animals, from the big and mighty elephant to the small cat. These animals freely roam, until a bunny police comes baring a big force, determined to prove herself. She gives it her all to show what she is made of.

Actors include Idris Elba (Chief Bog), Kristen Bell (Priscilla), and  Shakira (Gazelle).

The Jungle Book – April

Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a man-cub, is a boy who was raised by a family of wolves.

He then finds out he is no longer welcome in the jungle.

When a fearsome tiger, Shere Khan, who promises to banish what he sees as a threat, Mowgli chooses to abandon the only home he has ever come to know and sets out on a self-discovery to figure out who he really is and what his purpose is in the jungle.

Mowgli encounters jungle creatures along the way, which do not exactly have his best interests at heart, but meets a variety of animals he will never forget.

Mowgli has a hidden secret, which everyone wishes to reveal.

Voices: Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Lupita Nyong’o (Raksha), and Giancarlo Espoito (Akela).

Alice Through the Looking Glass – May

Get ready to escape to a magical world with the sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 film “Alice In Wonderland.”

Alice (Mia Wasikowska) once again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she claims she can see beyond.

Alice tells her pet cats about her adventures about the “Looking-Glass House,” an imaginary world she has created.

On the other side of the mirror where everything is backward, Alice suddenly finds herself stepping through the mirror into the “Looking-Glass House.”

Alice takes you on a mysterious adventure as she discovers what used to be just her imaginary glass house.

Finding Dory” – June 17

Finding Dory

“Finding Dory” reunites the famous favorite forgetful fish, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres).

Her friend Marlin (Albert Brooks) and son Nemo (Hayden Rolence) set out on an adventure to discover Dory’s past, answering all her unanswered questions, including: Why does she forget everything? Who are her parents? Is she her parents’ only child?  Where did she learn to speak whale?

The film features actors Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), Anne Hathaway (White Queen), Rhys Ifans (Zanik Hightopp), Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen and Sacha), and Baron Cohen (Time).

Voices are the late Alan Rickman (Blue Caterpillar), Stephen Fry (Cheshire Cat), Michael Sheen (White Rabbit), and Timothy Spall (Bayard).

BFG” – July 1

BFG

A young girl, Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), encounters the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance), who, despite his horrendous appearance, surprises everyone with his kindhearted soul.

In Giant Country, the giants are bigger, taller, and eat boys and girls.

The BFG is considered an outcast by the other giants because, unlike his peers, he refuses to eat little boys and girls.

The queen and the BFG form a plan to stop the man-eating giants.

Both Sophie and the BFG, being social outcasts and on their own, come to understand the meaning of a companion.

Other actors include Penelope Wilton (The Queen), Rebecca Hall (Mary), Bill Hader (Bloodbottler), and Jemaine Clement (Fleshlumpeater).
