Girls’ basketball beaten by Brandon

The girls’ basketball team fell to Brandon 49-37 on Friday, Jan. 15.

Junior Brandi Morgan was a force offensively, scoring a team-high 12 points.

Morgan was all over the floor, making two 3-pointers and grabbing three rebounds.

In the first half, Morgan and her Hornets kept it close. The girls were down 17-14 at halftime.

Senior Diane Bond also performed well on offense, scoring 11 points. She led the team in 3-pointers, making three from beyond the arc.

Bond also dished a pair of assists and made two steals on defense.

Junior Brittney Dick’s main contribution was on defense with six total rebounds and three steals.

At the start of the second half Kearsley’s offense sparked, scoring 16 points in third quarter. But then Brandon answered back by scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter, propelling Brandon to a victory.

With the loss, Kearsley’s record falls to 2-6 overall, 0-5 in Metro League play.

The Hornets hope to get a win next week when Clio comes to town on Friday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m.
