The wrestling team opened the Metro League season sweeping its double-dual match Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Kearsley first defeated Brandon, 45-33.

Sophomores Seth Varner (103 pounds) and Andy Ruhstorfer (112 pounds); juniors Reese Harburn (215) and Marcus Moss (215); and seniors Coi Jenkins (125), Travis Wildfong (145), Jacob Elizondo (171), and Merrick White collected wins for the Hornets.

Next, the team took down Flushing, 51-26.

Several Hornets had wins in this match, including sophomores Malik Davis (160), and Varner; juniors Zack Elizondo (119), Dominic Buterakos (130), Harburn, and Moss; and seniors Jenkins, Wildfong, and Ruhstorfer.

The Hornets are 2-0 in the Metro League, tied for first place with Holly and Linden.
