“Goosebumps” premiered in theaters on Oct. 16.

Remember when you were a kid and “Goosebumps” was the TV series to watch and the books to read?

Well, on Oct. 16 an upgraded movie version of the famous books by R.L. Stine was released.

The movie grossed $23.5 million in its first weekend and, as of Nov. 1, has made a total of $57.1 million.

The movie creatively combined all of the monsters from Stines’ books into a fun, action-packed storyline.

In the movie, R. L. Stine (Jack Black) and his daughter Hannah (Odeya Rush) move from town to town because of the threats behind his books. They must be kept locked up in order to keep the monsters inside.

They are pretty successful with moving anytime anything goes wrong until their new neighbor Zach (Dylan Minnette) becomes suspicious and unlocks one of the books, “The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena.”

Hannah, Zach, and Zach’s friend, Champ (Ryan Lee), chase down the snowman and, with the eventual help of Stine, manage to return it to the book.

However, that is not the end. Slappy (voiced by Jack Black), one of Stine’s most famous monsters,  somehow manages to get free of his book, and Slappy wants revenge for being locked up.

In one night, Stine, Zach, Hannah, and Champ must get all of the monsters, who were released by Slappy, back into the book.

I would highly recommend this movie to people of all ages.

It has comedy, adventure, and even some romance. There are plot twists and turns, and the ending even lends itself to the possibility of a sequel.

If you enjoyed the TV series as a kid, this movie is definitely one to go see.

It is fun and enjoyable for the whole family and is interesting to the four different demographics: young, old, male, and female.

I think the characters are relatable, and I could definitely watch this movie again.
