Drum Major Taylor Stockton is happy with the band’s performance at its festival Monday, Oct. 12.

The marching band earned a two rating, just short of the highest rating of one, from a festival at Laker Junior High School in Pigeon, Mich., Monday, Oct. 12.

The band was graded on three aspects of its performance: music, marching, and overall effect.

It received a 41 in music and a 40 in marching, which are both equivalent to a two, and it received a 43 for overall effect, which is a one.

Eight band members played solos during the performance: seniors Ben Molter (trumpet) and Jarrod Cummings (sousaphone); juniors Ryan Thomas (baritone), Andrew Flynn (mellophone), Dylan Phelps (trumpet), and William Spielmaker (alto saxophone); sophomore Maikayla Josling (mellophone); and freshman Lance Hawkins (alto saxophone).

Senior Taylor Stockton, drum major, directed the band in its performance.

“I was happy because we performed very well,” Stockton said. “However, I was frustrated because we were one point away from earning the highest possible score of a one.”
