Harris wins two events for boys track at Marco Marcet Invitational

Junior Taveon Harris led the Hornets with 22 points at Frankenmuth’s invitational on Friday, April 21.

The boys track team placed seventh at the Marco Marcet Invitational hosted by Frankenmuth, Friday, April 21.

Frankenmuth’s Eagles won the meet, accumulating 108.5 points. Freeland was the runner-up with 105.5 points.

Leading the Hornets was junior Taveon Harris, who scored 22 of the team’s 70 points. Junior Tre’Ron Griffin scored 19 and junior Tommey Plunkey had 12.5.

Harris won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.88 and was part of the winning 800 relay of Griffin, junior Dakotah Doman, Plunkey, and Harris. The relay team won, by two seconds, with a time of 1:34.17.

Also in the 100 dash, Plunkey placed third with a time of 12.22.

In the 400 dash, junior Tre’Ron Griffin won, finishing in 53.32, and Harris came in second at 53.61.

In the 200 dash, Griffin placed fourth, 24.70, and Plunkey placed fifth, 24.71.

Senior Hunter Stanley hurdled for fourth in the 300 hurdles, with a time of 45.86.

Teaming up for the 1600 relay were Griffin, Doman, Stanley, and Harris. They finished in third at 3:38.71.

Finally, Doman placed sixth in the long jump, leaping 17-11.5.

The Hornets next meet is at home, Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. against Clio.
