Graduating means you should stay away from high school

Every year brings a new group of seniors, counting down the days till they are done with high school.

You hear them all say, “I can’t wait to be done with high school forever!”

But the truth behind that is a number of seniors will have a hard time actually being done with high school.

Coming back for the homecoming football game, or an occasional basketball game, is acceptable but attending every high school event and continuing to put yourself into high school drama is uncalled for.

Let the seniors be seniors.

Once you graduate, your time in high school has come to an end. This should be the start of the next chapter of your life.

This chapter may mean trying to figure out your next step, be it going off to college or moving out of your childhood home.

As a senior with under two months left of high school, I understand this next chapter can be scary, and some may cling to a comfort such as home, friends, or family.

But you do not need to cling to your high school life.

Once you graduate, stay graduated.

Find new activities that go beyond the high school experience.

I am not saying do not have any contact with friends still in high school, but stay out of the high school drama.

Stay off the Twitter arguments, Facebook comments, and in-school fights.

You had your time for high school drama, move on.
