Who really are you?
Most teenagers don’t know the answer to this question, until they run into events they have to face later in their lives, bringing out the real version of themself.
Kennedy Church was born on August 19, 2008. She is a current student at Kearsley High School. She spent her childhood growing up with her mother, Amy Church and her father, Todd Church. She is the only girl and has one younger sibling, named Owen Church.
Growing up was difficult for the Church family. Kennedy spent as much time as she could with her father who was later diagnosed with heart problems. As a little girl, she often stated, “ I was most like my dad, he was my rock.”
Mr. Church fought a great fight, but later lost his battle in February 2016. Kennedy really struggled with this major battle she and her family went through.
When she was six years old, she was introduced to a youth group by her father, Mr. Church. This church was located on Belsay Road, so it was easily accessed by her family. Kennedy explained, “I had found an interest in seeking God‘s word.”
This did not last for long when Kennedy was younger, but within the last few years, she found her way back to seeking God.
Kennedy believes, “God has made me a better person and allowed me to help others find his word as well. This has made a significant impact on my life, leading me to kindness, compassion, and all in all a better human being towards people and things around me even myself.”
Kennedy enjoys being involved in extracurricular activities and contributes many service hours. For instance, Kennedy has helped with Rake and Run, The Special Olympics, and children’s events.
Since then, Kennedy has taken life from a different perspective. She lives life day by day with the mindset of “ you only live once.”
By her willingness to let God’s word lead her, she makes it known, “it has allowed me to show the people who I care about how to find god and to know what he is about. By finding a passion in my church and seeking God‘s word it has really helped
me become the person who I am today.”
Kennedy‘s advice for people who are facing challenges, or hoping to find a better connection with themselves and others, is to, “always surround yourself with people who are going to better you.”
Kennedy also states, “being involved with social activities and events has helped me live my life to the fullest and I recommend taking any opportunities given.”
Everyone has different backgrounds and faces different ups and downs, but this is the real Kennedy!
