Senior Jason Clark led the Hornets in splitting its first double-dual meet of the season on April 15.

The boys’ track and field team faced off against Fenton and Holly at home on April 15.

The Hornets won against Fenton 102-34 but lost to Holly 75-62.

The top scorers of the meet were seniors Jason Clark and Anton Webster, both earning Kearlsey 9 1/4 points.

Clark took first overall in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.18 and took second overall  in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.35.

“I did not expect to get first,” Clark said. “I was pretty scared. I would just like to tell kids to stay hopeful.”

Junior Kenny Palmer took second overall  in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.74.

Webster set a personal record placing first overall in the 400 dash with a time of 50.95. Taking second in the 400 was junior Jon McKay with a time of 51.82.

In the 800 run, Webster took second overall with a 2:05.8.

Coach Paul Adas was satisfied with Clark’s and Webster’s performances considering that the team just got back from spring break.

“I was pleased with some of the performances considering we are coming off of spring break and we haven’t had a meet in two weeks,” Adas said. “Jason Clark performed extremely well in both hurdle races, and Anton Webster ran a personal best time in the 400-meter dash to help the team easily defeat Fenton and nearly pull off the upset of defending Metro League champion Holly.”

Three field event athletes placed first overall, senior Josh Arnes, junior Brandon Scales, and senior Jaylen Shock.

In the pole vault, Arnes vaulted 10 feet.

Scales jumped 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump.

In the throws, Shock threw the shot 46-2.

Three relay teams took first overall.  They were the 800 relay (1:33.3), 400 relay (45.46), and 1600 relay (3:33.7).
