The boys track and field team was ready to fight on April 23 at the Lapeer Lightning Invitational.

For field events there were many top finishers. Junior Brendan Schanick placed 7th overall with a discus throw of 100 feet 11 inches.

Junior Tyler Csintyan placed 3rd with a high jump of 5 feet 6 inches.

In the long jump competition, junior Aiden Kuta took 5th place with a jump of 17 feet 2 1/4 inches, and senior Braylon Silvas brought home first place with an 18 foot 10 1/4 inch jump.

In shot put, junior Brendan Schanick ended up bringing home a first place metal from a 41 feet 9 1/4 inch throw.

“It felt good to compete with some of the best competition in the area and that first place metal showed that my hard work had started to pay off,” Schanick said.

Field wasn’t the only thing these competitive boys succeeded in.

Running the 200-meter dash, junior Mario Wells placed 8th, and Csintyan placed 5th with times of 24.80 and 24.38.

Those two also placed in the 400-meter dash.

Wells ran a 54.81, placing 3rd and Csintyan ran a 53.70 to take home a first place win.

The 800-meter relay team, Kuta, Silvas, Wells, and Csintayn, won a first place finish with a time of 1:37.7.

To finish it off, Silvas took 3rd in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

Silvas ran a 16.30 in the 110-meter, and a 43.67 in the 300-meter.

As a team the boys placed 5th overall at the meet.

This team is full of hustlers with even bigger goals in mind for their next meet.
