Cheer takes second on Senior Night

The competitive cheer team smiles as its senior night comes to an end. The Hornets took second at the Kearsley Invitational tournament Saturday, Feb. 1.

The competitive cheer team took second at the Kearsley Invitational tournament Saturday, Feb. 1.

As the only Kearsley-hosted event, the tournament served as Senior Night for the Hornets.

The Hornets finished with a total of 767.26 points.

Charlotte came in first place with a total of 767.82.

Avondale earned third place with a total of 748.18 points.

Kearsley had 227.40 points in the first round, 226.36 points in the second round, and 313.50 in the third round.

Sophomore Olivia Saxton is happy with the performance her team displayed at the tournament.

“We went with our best and left it all on the mat,” Saxton said. “We still have some room for improvement, but I’m overall happy with our team’s performance.”

The Hornets’ next competition is the Metro League championship meet Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Brandon High School.
