Dragons, Blackhawks soar over boys basketball

Boys basketball fell to Swartz Creek and Brandon in two Metro League games.

Kearsley’s record fell to 1-4 due to the losses.

Junior Jo Coleman led the team in both games with a combined total of 39 points.

The Hornets will host Fenton at the Hive Friday, Jan. 10.

Swartz Creek

The Hornets fell to Swartz Creek 67-59 in their fourth Metro League game of the season Friday, Dec. 20.

Averaging 18.5 points per game this season, junior Jo Coleman continued his great play against the Dragons with 26 points and six rebounds.

Coleman still holds a positive outlook on the rest of the season despite the loss.

“I felt good about the game just because you could tell it was a big improvement from our previous games,” Coleman said. “We are working hard to continue to improve and gain confidence in ourselves.”

The Hornets are holding their heads high and believe only improvement can come.

“We were mad about the loss but we’re staying optimistic.” Coleman said.

Brandon

The boys basketball team suffered a 68-42 loss to Brandon Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Junior Jo Coleman led the Hornets offensively with 13 points.

Junior Braylon Silvas also helped the team out by adding nine points and four rebounds and senior Gequez Pano chipped in seven rebounds.

The Hornets committed 37 turnovers, hurting them on both ends of the court.
