The girls basketball split its games over winter break, beating Swartz Creek and losing to Renaissance.

Girls basketball played two games over winter break.

The Hornets beat Swartz Creek Friday, Dec. 20, but fell to Renaissance Saturday, Dec. 28.

Buzzing against the Dragons, the Hornets won 52-41.

The Hornets fell to Renaissance 69-28.

Senior Sydney Walker feels the team went through a rough patch due to their communication.

But the team learned a lesson and will recover.

“We didn’t play our game,” Walker said. “We hurt ourselves because we didn’t communicate like we did normally. We played the other team’s game of basketball instead of taking the game in our hands. We learned a lesson and that game brought us closer together as a team.”

The team is now 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Metro League.

The Hornets will be back on the court Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Brandon High School.
