Girls tennis wins Owosso quad, falls to Flushing

Girls on the tennis team smile with their trophy after finishing first at the Owosso Quad match Saturday, May 4.

The tennis team won its quad match Saturday, May 4, after losing to Flushing the day before.

The Hornets will be in action again Monday, May 6,  at Swartz Creek.

Owosso Quad  

On Saturday, May 4, the Hornets won a quad match at Owosso.

Kearsley scored 21 points for the victory.

Owosso finished second with 14, while Lansing Eastern scored 12 and Chesaning did not score.

The Hornets won seven of the eight flights.

Winning their singles flights were seniors Stephanie Lane at No.1 singles, Entenmenn at No. 2 singles, and junior Jacqueline Olivo at No. 3 singles.

Kearsley won all of the doubles flights: senior Ariel Desjardins and freshman Olivia Chartrand at No. 1, seniors Mackenzie Boillat and Lucia Goldbergdova at No. 2, freshmen Emily Schanick and Brianna Ambs at No. 3, and freshmen Payton McKerchie and senior Luisa Schloefell at No. 4.

Flushing 

The Hornets had a close match against the Raiders, losing 5-3 on Friday, May 3, at Flushing High School.

Due to poor weather, the match, which started Thursday, May 2, ended the next day.

Senior Valerie Entenmenn won her singles flight.

At No. 2, Entenmenn swept her flight 6-4, 6-1.

Kearsley won two out of their four doubles matches.

Seniors Giulia Amato and Emily Jones won their No. 2 doubles 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

At No. 4 doubles, juniors Kasey Palmer and senior Briahna Greer outscored their opponents 6-2, 6-4.

Kearsley is now 3-2-1 in the league.
