Girls bowling defeats two League opponents, places third at tournament

Girls bowling remains undefeated in the League.

During the cold, snowy weather Michigan residents experienced, the girls bowling team continued to compete and defeated both Linden and Swartz Creek, placing third at the Metro Conference Championship Tournament.

The Hornets are still undefeated, with a League record sitting at 11-0.

The team competes next on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Clio Bowling Arcade against Brandon and Holly.

Metro Conference Championship Tournament

The Hornets placed third in the tournament, falling short in the semifinals against Lapeer on Sunday, Jan. 20.

The team bowled Baker games of 176 and 169 to Lightning’s 183 and 166, Lapeer won the match by four pins.

Blond bowled the highest series in the tournament day and was named all tournament team, rolling games of 246, 300, and 203 for a 749 total series.

Sophomore Megan Timm was named to the all-tournament, bowling her career high of 258, 241, and 231 for a 730 series.

Sturk bowled games of 224, 213, and 224 for a 661 series.

Also bowling strong games for the Hornets were Eible with 191 and 202, and Roof with games of 235, 157.

Swartz Creek

With one win under its belt, the team then defeated Creek 26-4 on Saturday, Jan. 19.

Kearsley rolled Baker games of 164 and 190 and individual games of 1,008 and 950 to the Dragons’ 144 and 189 Bakers and 957 and 89 individual games.

Final pinfall was in favor of the Hornets, 2,312-2,188.

Blond again led the way, bowling strong games of 208 and 220.

Following closely behind were senior Alexis Roof with 222 and 204; sophomore Allison Eible bowling 205 and 213; and sophomore Emilea Sturk rolling 201.

Linden

The Hornets swept Linden 30-0 on Wednesday, Jan. 16, with a final pinfall of 2,216-1,612.

Bowling Baker games of 164 and 193 and individual games of 973 and 886, Kearsley defeated the Eagles with ease.

Junior Imari Blond led the way for the team bowling games of 231 and 210.

Following close behind was sophomore Allison Eible rolling games of 222 and 193.
