Cheer leaves district as runner-up, advances to regional

The cheer team earned second place at an MHSAA district competition Friday, Feb. 16, which advances the team to the regional meet.

On Friday, Feb. 16, the cheer team took second place at an MHSAA district competition.

The Division 2 event was hosted by Fenton.

The team earned a total of 222.20 points during round one, 206.90 during round two, and 301.00 during round three.

The Hornets earned a grand total of 730.10 points.

Bay City Central took first place with 732.82 points, narrowly beating the Hornets by two points.

Senior Kaylee Hill knows the team tried their hardest.

“We came together as a team, and we did the best we could,” Hill said. “We are now motivated to work even harder.”

Regional competition is Saturday, Feb. 24, at Fenton.

The Hornets qualified for the state final last year, which was the first time they had done that.
