Senior Victoria Sark, a foreign exchange student from Germany, enjoys taking classes at KHS.

Victoria Sark, senior, is a foreign exchange student from Hamburg, Germany. She has light brown, shoulder-length hair, a unique sense of style, and a can-do attitude.

Sark is living out her dream of traveling to the United States by studying at KHS while living with the Hobson family.

“It’s been a childhood dream of mine to go to an American high school for at least one year,” Sark said.

There are many differences Sark notices about high school life in America versus high school life back in Germany.  Things like more homework and less break time differ from how things are in German schools.

The only thing a bit strange to me is the amount of homework (which is more) we get here in the U.S.

“The only thing a bit strange to me is the amount of homework we get here in the U.S.,” Sark said. “School is certainly shorter, and we have way less school breaks here.”

While being at KHS, Sark has gotten close to many people. She’s committed her time to extracurricular activities like being a member of the swim team, which in turn has given her the chance to meet new people.

Sophomore Autumn Sears has gotten to be good friends with Sark.

“We met through the swim team and I’ve gotten to know about her life and all the languages she speaks,” Sears said.

Sark speaks three languages fluently but knows more.

She is fluent in German, Russian, and English. She is partially fluent in French and Turkish, and she also knows a little Japanese, Spanish, and Korean.

I think Vicky (Sark) is really down to earth and funny.

Sears also also said Sark is kind.

“I think Vicky is really down to earth and funny,” Sears said. “I like that she’s so considerate of everyone no matter what.”

Sark also met freshman Megan Timm through the swim team.

“Vicky is a great person,” Timm said. “She’s a very hard worker and she’s an amazing person to be around.”

Being involved in the Drama Club is another commitment Sark had made. She has met many people through the club, including junior Mary Wheeler.

Since meeting Sark, Wheeler, who is also the president of the Thespian Society, has grown fond of the new member.

“I love her personality,” Wheeler said. “She’s so kind and sweet, and she’s quite witty.”
