Competitive cheer tumbles into fourth

The varsity and junior varsity cheer teams pose for a picture at Troy High School before competing on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The cheer team took fourth place at the CCCAM Invitational on Saturday, Dec 9.

Kearsley competed in a Division 2 at the invitational hosted by Troy High School.

The team earned a total of 698.04, earning 221.40 points in round one, 212.54 during round two, and 264.10 during round three.

Gibraltar Carlson won with 782.96 points, Southgate Anderson took second with 756.56, and Allen Park took third with 756.34.

Senior Desirah Richards thinks the season is off to a good start.

“I think we did great being our first competition of the season,” Richards said. “We are looking for ways to improve and we are hoping for a great season.”

The team’s next competition is at Fenton High School on Jan. 10 to open up league competition.
