Boys’ bowling strikes two more wins
After a slow 2-2 start to their season, the boys’ bowling team beat Linden and then knocked off undefeated Brandon on Jan. 10.
Kearsley beat Linden 28-2 and Brandon 27-3.
Senior Ben Roof led the team with games of 236, 231, 196, and 250 for a total of 913 for the four individual games. Roof averaged 228 and was bowling in the third spot.
During the match against Linden, the Hornets took an early 10-0 lead bowling games of 186 and 196 during the baker set. Linden bowled games of 159 and 122.
In the first individual game against Linden, the Hornets shot a total of 1,140 to Linden’s 730. This individual game secured the win and allowed the Hornets prepare for their next match against Brandon.
Against the Blackhawks, the Hornets took another early lead by beating Brandon with a 2-game total of 463-330.
The atmosphere intensified going into the first individual game. The Hornets shot 983, scoring eight points during the first individual game to secure the win and increase their record to 4-2.
After a slow start to the season, the Hornets are setting themselves up for a chance to win another league title.
Each team in the Metro League has at least one loss, and the Hornets will compete against Brandon later this season.
Kearsley’s next match is at Town & Country Lanes on Jan. 13 against Flushing.
