The cheer team performs during the 2017 state final on Saturday, March 4, at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids. Tryouts for the 2017-18 cheer season are Tuesday, Nov. 7.

A cheer clinic will be held Monday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the sports deck.

The purpose of the clinic is to teach girls the routine and to show what is expected at the tryout.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, a tryout will take place on the sports deck from 6 to 8 p.m.

A physical on file dated after April 15, 2017, is mandatory in order to be able to try out, and there is no experience needed in order to make the JV team.

Ms. Brooke Sharrard, cheer coach, is excited for the upcoming season and encourages all to try out.

“Last season was the start of a new era for the Kearsley competitive cheer (team),” Coach Brooke Sharrard said. “Come join the start of new traditions.”

Senior Desirah Richards enjoys the experience of being a part of  the competitive cheer team.

“It feels great knowing that all our hard work pays off,” Richards said. “Doing competitive cheer is so worth it, but it’s not about winning or losing.”
