Girls track places fifth at Frankenmuth’s invitational
Senior Ave’r McKay led the girls track and field team at Frankenmuth’s Marco Marcet Invitational on Friday, April 21.
McKay, who scored 20.75 points, took second place in the 400-meter dash with a time 1:02.22 seconds. She also took third place in the 100 in 13.54 and third in the 200 with a time of 27.68.
The Hornets took fifth place in the 11-team invitational, scoring 48 points.
Saginaw Heritage won the meet with 140 points. Flushing was second (124), while Frankenmuth was third (116.5).
The other top scorers for Kearsley were senior Alexis Schwartz and sophomore Mackenzie Ramey, each scoring five points, while junior Madison Jordan scored 4.25 points.
In the field events, Ramey took fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 2.5 inches.
In addition, Schwartz finished fourth place in the pole vault, vaulting 7-6.
On the track in an open race, Jordan ran the 400 in 1:08.36. taking sixth place.
In the relays, the 400-relay team of Amelia Boggs, Sydney Walker, Sierra Walker, and Stacia Tipton, ran 57.97 for sixth place.
In the 800 relay, Boggs, Jordan, Walker, and Tipton took sixth place again, running the relay in 2:00.03.
The 1600-relay team also placed sixth. McKay, Jordan, Boggs and Tipton ran 4:34.02 .
Finally, the 3200-relay team of Nisha Hartley, Tipton, Chloe Vollmar, and Savannah Jones had a time of 12.13.66 and took fifth place.
Kearsley hosts the Clio Mustangs next Wednesday, April 26, at 4 p.m.
