Boys’ basketball second-half rally falls short at Holly

The Hornets suffered their first loss to the defending Metro League champions at Holly 44-54 on Dec.16.

The boys tried to overcome an 18-point halftime deficit and were able to close it to seven points.

But the game came down to free throws, and Kearsley (2-1, 1-1) struggled making theirs.

The Hornets went seven for 19 from the charity stripe for the game, but only made five of 13 in the fourth quarter.

Senior Jalen Gallery led the team with 14 points.

Senior Anton Webster and junior Deitrick Young were able to add seven points apiece.
