Freshman Imari Blond and senior Brandon Wheeler placed third in the Davison Mixed Doubles Tournament on Friday, Dec. 30.

Two bowling powerhouses combined as the boys and girls teams competed in the Davison Mixed Doubles Tournament.

Ten teams took the lanes at Richfield Bowl on Friday, Dec. 30, and two of those pairs placed in the top 10.

Freshman Imari Blond partnered with senior Brandon Wheeler, and they took third place overall.

The duo advanced to the Final Four stage of the tournament and were knocked out by a pair from Oxford, who went on to take first place.

Coming in close behind were Juniors Karlee Griffin and Chase Gebhart, who finished sixth.

The Hornets were proud to say that 25 percent of the top 32 teams were from Kearsley, as eight of their 10 teams advanced past the qualification round.

Two individual bowlers from Kearsley did well, despite not placing. Seniors Bryce McKerchie and Zach Timm led the way, with series of 566 and 565 respectively.

Both the boys and girls next face Clio at Holly Lanes on Saturday, Jan. 7.
