Boys basketball splits two games

Ford leads Hornets in both games

The boys basketball team played a pair of games in the last four days, winning one and losing one.

Swartz Creek

The Hornets played host to Swartz Creek, falling 72-69 on Friday, Dec. 16, in double overtime.

Senior Chandler Ford led the team with 14 points. Ford has led the team in scoring this season.

Two others, senior Darrion Younger and sophomore Saif Dawan, both scored 13.

Creek jumped out early, scoring 19 points in the first quarter to Kearsley’s 10.

Falling to the Dragons marked the team’s third loss in a row, winless since Dec. 6.

LakeVille

The Hornets recovered in their next game, beating LakeVille 71-65 on Monday, Dec. 19.

Ford once again led in scoring, this time with a season-high 23 points.

That impressive performance was still bested by LakeVille’s Darrell Washington, who put up 25 points as the game’s high scorer.

Kearsley (2-4 overall, 0-2 league) hopes to start the new year off right with a win at Fenton on Friday, Jan. 6.
