Auditions for the student spring play are Thursday, April 14.

Auditions for the upcoming school play, “Eleventh Night,” will be held in the school auditorium on Thursday, April 14.

The auditions will be held after school from 4-5 p.m.

Mr. John Hall, theater director, hopes that many students will audition for the upcoming play.

“We are looking for students who have theater experience, as well as students who are willing to put in lots of time and effort into creating yet another Kearsley High School theater success,” Hall said.

It is not required to have theater experience to audition for the play, but it will be taken into consideration when assigning roles.

Each audition will be under five minutes, so students are free to leave right after they audition.

Students will have to read from the script, recite a memorized monologue ranging from 15 to 30 seconds, sing a short song such as “Happy Birthday,” and be prepared for a few questions about themselves and their theater experience.

Students who want to help out with the play, such as creating costumes or doing hair and makeup, are more than welcome to talk to Hall about it.

Roles will be chosen and then posted by Monday, April 18. There will be a read-through on the following Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Rehearsals will begin Thursday, April 21. They will be held daily from 4-6 p.m. in the auditorium.

Students are to make sure they can attend every rehearsal. There will only be 30 hours of rehearsal, which is a bare minimum number of hours to practice for the length of the show.

“Students need to be able to commit to their part if they get one,” Hall said. “It makes for a much smoother running production if students are prompt to rehearsal.”

Performances of the show will be Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27.
