Gratitude should be practiced all year long

Hailey Whitlock

Most people feel the most thankful during the holidays, which is fine, but I believe that we should have gratitude toward important things all year.

I am one of those people that tries to put a smile on my face everyday no matter what happens.

I also try to think about all the things I am thankful for.

During the holidays I tend to do it even more because I am surrounded by friends and family that I do not get to see all the time.

So I asked a few of my friends when they tend to be the most grateful.

Senior Kayla Ward feels the most grateful when something unfortunate has happened in her family because they all gather around to try to make it better.

“I always try to take time out of my day to spend with my parents and make great memories with them because I know someday they won’t be there,” Ward said.

A few of my friends also said something along those lines, which makes complete sense.

We tend to feel the most grateful when something unfortunate happens in our lives.

Junior Alayna Haack wants to start taking more time out of her day to think about how and why she is grateful.

“I’m the most grateful when it’s the holiday season because I realize that I get to see all of my family,” Haack said. “Plus I get gifts that I don’t always deserve, yet I’m so thankful for everyone who does get me something.”

I feel that a lot of people feel like this because people cannot be perfect.

Junior Aubrey Scott said that she feels the most grateful when she wins in a sport that she is playing.

“I wouldn’t be near as successful as I am without the support of my family,” Scott said.

In conclusion, I feel like people are the most grateful for their family and friends because they help make them the person that they are now.
