Boys’ basketball ends season losing to Arthur Hill

The boys’ basketball team took on Saginaw Arthur Hill in an MHSAA district game, Monday, March 7.

The Hornets fell to Arthur Hill 74-40 in a game played at Lapeer.

After the first quarter, the Lumberjacks led 17-9. But the Hornets could not get any closer.

By the end of the third quarter, the score was 64-29, Arthur Hill leading.

Senior Deitrick Young led the team with 14 points and several rebounds.

Kearsley’s offense was no match for Arthur Hill’s defense.

Arthur Hill carries several players over 6 feet.

Being the only senior, Monday’s game marked the final game for Young.

Kearsley finished the season 3-18 overall, 2-12 in the league.

During the district tournament, the winning teams of Monday’s games will advance and play Wednesday, and if they win again they will play Friday in the championship.

After winning the district, that team will advance into a regional bracket and compete against other teams in Michigan.

The two semifinal games will be played Wednesday, March 9.

Game one will pit Saginaw against Lapeer, while the second game is Saginaw Arthur Hill playing Clio.
