The boys’ track team looks forward to defending its league title.

Boys’ track and field coach, Mr. Paul Adas, is looking forward to beginning another successful season, with practices starting Monday, March 14.

Senior Deitrick Young is a key returning athlete who looks forward to the season.

“I am looking forward to being around the track guys again and competing with them,” Young said.

The Hornets’ relay teams, sprints, and middle distance events are expected to continue thriving.

The team will be working hard this season defending its Metro League title.

The athletes will also be practicing daily to send their relay teams back to the Division 1 state meet. Last year the 1600-meter relay, 3200 relay, and 800 relay teams qualified for the final meet, and two of the relay teams placed in the top 10.

According to Adas, distance and field events, and possibly hurdles, will be the team’s weaker events.

“I think we will do great,” Young said. “We just have to continue to build off of the success that our team had last year, and we will be fine.”
