Boys’ basketball falls to Lake Fenton, Brandon

Lake Fenton

The boys’ basketball team took on Lake Fenton in a Coaches vs. Cancer game Tuesday, Feb. 23.

The Coaches vs. Cancer game is a series of games played between teams from the Flint Metro League and Genesee Area Conference.

The games are played in efforts to raise money for cancer awareness.

Part of the requirement of the game is for the coaches to wear dress clothes with tennis shoes.

Prior to the game, the players honored those who have passed away from cancer, as well as those who have survived and are still living life to the fullest.

The girls’ basketball team used buckets to collect donations in an activity called the “Miracle Minute.”

In one minute, the girls had to raise as much money as they could.

In total, the Kearsley and Lake Fenton teams were able to collect almost $200 in donations from fans attending the game.

In the game, the Hornets lost 64-47.

Freshman Saif Dawan led the team with 16 points, doing a lot of his damage through 3-pointers.

Senior Deitrick Young contributed 14 points and led the team on the boards with six rebounds.

In the fourth quarter, Lake Fenton pulled ahead and made more critical shots than the Hornets.

Brandon

The boys’ basketball team fell to the Brandon Blackhawks 73-37 on Friday, Feb. 19.

Young led the Hornets with 10 points and also grabbed three rebounds.

Junior Chandler Ford, captain, knocked down seven points.
