Kearsley junior will play Huck Finn in Flint Youth Theatre show

The Flint Youth Theatre will be putting on a show based on “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” with a Kearsley junior starring in one of the lead roles.

Junior Brandon Hart plays Huck, and he is excited for the show.

“I am extremely excited for opening night,” Hart said. “We have worked really hard on this. We’re doing a lot of interesting things with the play.”

The production, called “Huck Finn,” opens Saturday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.

Like the book, the story follows a boy named Huck and a slave named Jim as they travel down the Mississippi River and find home in their friendship with each other.

Hart also talked about the scenes where Huck and Jim are sailing down the Mississippi River.

“The river is an actual river, so we have to actually push the raft ourselves,” he said.

Shows will take place each weekend until Sunday, March 6. Showtimes and ticket sales can be found on FYT’s website.

Tickets for children 12 and under cost $12. Tickets for seniors 60 and over are $14, and the cost for adults is $16.

Brandon further explained some fascinating things about the show, saying there will be a musical introduction to start it.

“Some of the actors have composed music and are singing songs that were the style for that time period,” Hart said. “It’s gonna be a great show.”
