The girls’ and boys’ cross country teams each finished in 13th place at their regional Saturday, Oct. 31.

Bay City Western won the girls’ meet with 75 points, while the Hornets scored 425.

Coming in 68th place for Kearsley was junior Lexi Kelly.

Kelly ran her 5K in 23:19.92 on the course at Delta College.

Kelly’s race was a personal record, but she still was not pleased with herself.

“My performance was not the best. I wanted it to be, but it is the fastest I have ever ran,” Kelly said. “My goals for next year are to be an All-State runner.”

Senior Diane Bond finished as the Hornets’ No. 2 runner, placing 78th in 24:51.17.

In the boys’ meet, Fenton’s 81 points earned them first place, while Kearsley finished with 397.

Sophomore Donald Martin finished in 19:17.22, placing 73rd overall.

Even though Martin paced the Hornets, he was not happy with his time.

“My performance was poor,” Martin said. “I did not reach my personal goal of breaking 18:30.”

Sophomore Jack Vollmar was the boys’ No. 2 runner, finishing 76th with the time of  19:29.22.
