Upcoming movies audiences must see
Now that Halloween is over and scary movies are no longer the rage, it’s time for other movies to have their chance in the spotlight.
Three must-see movies will open in upcoming months.
“The Peanuts Movie”
The first movie — “The Peanuts Movie” — will be released Friday, Nov. 6, and will, more than likely, be a favorite among all age groups.
The movie is a spin off Charles M. Schulz’s comic strip called “Peanuts,” which came out in 1950 and featured the famous character Charlie Brown.
“The Peanuts Movie” is bound to draw in middle-aged and older generations because they were growing up when “Peanuts” came out.
However, it is a cartoon, so it will draw in children as well. Even young adults might be compelled to go because they loved it growing up.
The trailer looks really interesting and has been viewed millions of times.
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang will be showing in 3-D animation.
Charlie will be his typical underdog self and have many adventures throughout the film, one of which he will be facing his arch nemesis, the Red Baron.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2”
The second movie, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2,” premiering Nov. 20, will probably be one of the biggest movies in 2015.
It is based off the best-selling series written by Suzanne Collins.
The trailer looks like the movie will not disappoint. The first movie premiered three years ago and since then the series has been a big hit among all ages.
The Hunger Games is a yearly event in which a boy and girl from each of the 12 districts of Panem is forced to fight to the death against each other. The Capitol holds this event to show that they possess power over the districts so no one will incite a rebellion against them.
That is until Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is forced to volunteer when her 13-year-old sister is called to be the tribute (competitor) for their district. Everdeen ends up winning, along with her fellow tribute, Peeta Mellark (Joshua Hutcherson).
There was only supposed to be one winner though, which makes the Capitol’s leader angry but sparks the hearts of the Districts to believe that a change is possible in their society.
Throughout the next two movies, the Capitol ravages Everdeen of her family and friends, trying to get her to stop the uprisings.
In “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2,” Everdeen finally has enough of the disapproval from the Capitol and fiercely leads the rebel army into the Capitol and plans on stopping the person responsible for it all, President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
The third and final movie to see soon, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” is set 30 years after the last movie.
The first movie of George Lucas’ original trilogy, “Star Wars,” was released in 1977 and was later re-titled “Star Wars IV: A New Hope.” In this film, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is held captive by Darth Vader and the Imperial Forces while Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is trained by Obi Wan Kenobi to become a Jedi.
These characters, including Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), along with other characters work together to rescue the beautiful Princess Leia, help the Rebel Alliance, destroy the Death Star, and liberate the galaxy from the Empire.
In the second movie, “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), Luke and the gang face attacks from the Imperial Forces on their base, which is on the ice planet Hoth.
While Han and Leia escape in the Millennium Falcon, Luke goes to Dagobah in search of Yoda.
Only with the Jedi master’s help will Luke survive when the dark side of the Force calls him into and ultimate duel with Darth Vader.
In the third movie, “Return of the Jedi” (1983), the rebel fleet must save the galaxy again as Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt attempt to make a second Death Star to stop the rebels and gain control of the galaxy.
Luke struggles in defeating Darth Vader as it is revealed that he is Luke’s father, Anikan, who is a fallen Jedi.
The rebel alliance’s biggest fight is in “The Return of the Jedi.”
Lucas later directed a prequel trilogy (1999, 2002, and 2005) that produced three “Star Wars” episodes whose settings took place before the original 1977 movie. These films were “The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones, ” and “Revenge of the Sith.”
The latest film, “The Force Awakens” will continue the story line by picking up after “Return of the Jedi.”
As the first film of what is called the sequel trilogy, “The Force Awakens” plans to be followed by “Star Wars: Episode VIII” in 2017 and “Star Wars: Episode IX” in 2019.
There hasn’t been much of a plot summary or any clues to what the new movie will be about, but millions of people of all ages are waiting for it.
The trailer has grossed well over 50 million views on YouTube, along with thousands of comments.
The movie will premier Dec. 18.
