Coach Jeff Gilbert said that everyone is welcome on the boys’ swimming and diving team this year.

The season starts Monday, Nov. 23.

Gilbert is looking forward to teaching new students what it means to be a Kearsley swimmer or diver.

“It takes a lot of work ethic and mental toughness,” Gilbert said.

Since there are no tryouts, sophomore Noel Nowacki encourages anyone to jump in the pool.

“We need a lot more bodies in the water,” Nowacki said. “I am looking forward to this season a lot.”

According to Gilbert, the team’s strengths will be the 50-yard freestyle, the 200 freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay, and diving.

The weaker events will be the specialty events, the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke, and the 100 butterfly.

Gilbert and Assistant Coach Dave Barrett are hoping to attract a large number of underclassmen to the team.

TheĀ coaches want to develop long-term sprinters and distance swimmers.
