As fall approaches in Michigan, Kearsley High School students eagerly anticipate everything that comes with the season: homecoming, cooler weather, and Friday night lights. The changing leaves and cool air signal a shift in not only the weather but also in school spirit and community engagement.
The excitement seems to spread through the halls as leaves begin to change and the air grows cold. Tons of people at Kearsley High school seem to love the colorful season, so I decided to go around school and ask students what fall means to them.
Freshman, Braylon Coughlin, shared that he loves playing soccer with his friends and how the season transitions perfectly into fall. He also mentioned how one of his favorite parts about the fall season is watching both college and NFL football.
“Fall is my favorite season,” Coughlin said. “I always look forward to watching football with my friends and family. Soccer season with my friends also leads into the fall season and it’s always fun playing with them.”
I also spoke with a few other students to hear what they enjoy most about this time of year.
Sophomore, Addisyn Yelle, said that she loves the energy of Friday night football games, she thinks it’s fun when people dress up as the theme. She always looks forward to dressing up and going to the game with friends.
“I always look forward to football games, it’s always super fun to hang out with my friends in the student section and watch the game,” Yelle said. “I also look forward to the game themes. It’s cool to see people dress up and have fun. Going to the games is always a good way to end the week.”
With fall in full swing, students across school are embracing the season in their own unique ways. Some can be found out on the field, playing their favorite fall sports alongside friends, while others enjoy attending school events filled with energy, laughter, and school spirit.
