What are you currently reading? What is your favorite book? Here at KHS we have tons of readers. Some who read during class time, and some during their free time for fun.
Senior, Brooklyn Hoskey, is currently reading Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. When asked what the book is about, Hoskey stated, “It’s a Greek tragedy play.” It is also about people trying to avoid their fate. But, in order to do so their actions actually bring it about. Hoskey had learned about the book in Mrs. VanO’s English class.
Some people prefer other types of books like Romance books. Junior, Kara Marks, is currently reading Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover. Marks was questioned what the book is about. “A girl who moves in with her dad because he mom died. She meets a boy next door, but doesn’t know the real him,” exclaimed Marks. What grabbed her attention about the book was the author. She also mentioned that it was really easy to get into because everything happened so fast.
Another student that enjoys reading Romance books is Sophomore, Sophia Sporman. She is reading the book Wild Love by Elsie Silver. Sporman was asked what grabbed her attention about the book. “The love story and the author,” expressed Sporman. She was also asked what Wild Love is about. “It’s about a guy who figures out he’s a single dad, and the girl he likes is his best friend’s sister, and she becomes his assistant,” described Sporman.
The last person that I interviewed was freshman, Morgan Montney. She is currently readying Chaos Theory by Nic Stone. When asked what her book was about she stated, “A girl named Shelby and a boy named Andy who met through a court trial. Andy promises not to drive drunk, but he does. He gets an MUI and goes to court.” Montney really enjoyed this book. She was also asked what her favorite part of the book was. “There’s a note that Andy wrote in the beginning of the book to his ex about how he misses her but he had the wrong number,” explained Montney.
