Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year and this year the board has decided to give teachers and students Monday and Tuesday off the week of!
Many are thrilled to hear about having a 4-day weekend.
Senior, Desiree Griffin exclaims, “I am so excited to not have school on Halloween because it is a busy holiday for me, and not having school is going to make it much easier for me to get ready, so I’m glad that they made that decision this year.”Ā
Halloween is a very exciting holiday for many Kearsley families and the celebrations get bigger every year.
“My mom loves celebrating Halloween. Every year she buys new blow-up decorations for our yard and each year we pass out candy in our neighborhood,” stated senior, Kyle Owens.
There are many ways students are choosing to spend the holiday this year.
“Usually I like to go to parties, but these last couple of years it’s been too cold, so I think this year I’m just gonna stay inside and watch scary movies with my boyfriend,” stated senior Madelynn Bailey.
While some hangout with friends, some students are choosing to spend time with their families this Halloween.
Junior, AJ Merrow said, “each year my family and I go trick-or-treating in the rich neighborhoods so we can get king-size candy bars.”
Halloween is the “big” day but, for the whole month of October there are plenty of other things to do. One of these things is going to haunted houses. It is a tradition in many families.
Sophomore, Sydney March told reporters, “me, my friends and family usually go to Exit 13 on Halloween and then after we go back to their house and eat snacks and watch movies.”
Dressing up on Halloween brings many students joy and is something they all look forward too.
“Every year I get so excited to go costume shopping. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Sometimes I even plan out my costume before it is even October,” exclaimed freshman, Lily Cameron.
