The girls tennis team feels good swinging into a new season.

Seniors will be leading the charge for the girl’s tennis team this year.

Coach Cory Fisher is feeling good about the team’s chances this year with a lot of returning experience.

“I think we will be very competitive (with) a lot of senior experience,” Fisher says. “Molly Gunn, April Clark, Jessica Brulla, Emily Schanick, Payton McKerchie, and Aizya Sorenson will lead the way.”

Gunn feels grateful for her leadership position on the team.

“I never saw myself being in that position but I’m thankful for it.” Gunn comments. “I am thankful for my team; they always hype me up and I try to hype them up.”

Senior Emily Schanick, boasting a first place finish in the Metro League tournament for doubles two last season, feels the pressure from her spectators.

“We’re made out to be this really good doubles team so I don’t want to embarrass myself or let anyone down,” Schanick notes. ” I deal with it by doing the best I can along with staying humble, because anyone can beat anyone.”

Gunn knows she will excel in the Metro League this year.

“I feel good about my chances this year.” Gunn states. ” I feel I have grown a lot since my freshmen year and (I’m) the best I have ever been.”

Overall, the team is looking forward to a great season with a positive outlook on their success.
