Competitive cheer wraps up the Metro League and gets ready for Districts

The Hornets cheered in their third competition of the Metro League and had broken 700 total points for the first time in the season.

The Metro League is comprised of 3 competitions, the first and second competitions are worth 50% of the overall score, and the last is worth the other 50%. Kearsley finished with a total of 708.9 points in the third competition, placing 4th in the third competition, but 5th overall in the Metro League.

For the third competition, Fenton earned second place with a total of 711.96 points, but placed first in the Metro League.

Swartz Creek got first place in the third competition with a total of 730.94 points, and placed second in the Metro League.

Lake Fenton took third place in the third competition with a total of 711.74 points, and placed third in the Metro League.

The Hornets had 215 points in the first round, 199.3 points in the second round, and 294.6. in the third round.

Senior Olivia Saxton was proud of how they performed.

“We left our hearts out on the mat that day. Our scores overall increased tremendously since our first comp. Even though we had to make split-second changes backstage for our round three, we still went out and hit with zero deductions with all stunts hitting,” said Saxton. “I couldn’t have been prouder of us all for our performance and work ethic on and off the mat leading up to that night.

The Hornets’ next competition is districts, which is at 10 a.m on Saturday the 19th at Fenton.
