Girl’s Swim and Dive lose to Owosso and Davison

Kearsley Lake Fenton prepares for their meet against both Owosso and Davison.

The Girls Kearsley Lake Fenton Swim and Dive team had a busy night on Oct. 21, 2021, as they faced Owosso and Davison.

Kearsley lost to Owosso with a final score of 55-123 and they also lost to Davison with a score of 64-126.

In the first event, the 200 yard medley relay, Kearsley placed low, but were able to improve by the second event, the 200 yard freestyle. Senior Ava Hoskey and freshman Jaylee Oliver took the fifth and sixth spots respectively out of nine total swimmers.

In the third event Kearlsey once more placed low, with sophomore Ava Boggs taking sixth with a time of 2:49:82. Sophomore Elizabeth Soper and junior Ashelyn Hatch placed eighth and ninth with times of 2:56:33 and 2:56:49 respectively.

Kearsley continued to place well in certain areas slowly improving through the rest of the meet.

The 200 yard freestyle relay proved to be quite the strong point for the team, taking both first and third.

The first place team included junior Saige Rooney, junior Ashelyn Hatch, freshman Amelia Sporman, and sophomore Ava Boggs, finishing with a time of 1:55:65.

The third place team was comprised of senior Mattie Bailey, senior Ava Hoskey, senior Anna Sporman, and freshman Jaylee Oliver finished with a time of 2:10:76.

In the eleventh event, the 100 yard breaststroke, sophomore Elizabeth Soper was able to snatch a fourth place spot, with a time of 1:26:72.

Even with their outstanding performance in the 200 yard freestyle relay, they were unable to garner enough points to snatch a victory.
