The boys soccer team traveled to Flushing Monday, Oct. 19, to face off against Imlay City in MHSAA Semifinals losing 5-0.

Seniors Brian Boisen, Caleb Lasley, Ethan Young, and freshmen Caden Saxton lead the charge against the Spartans with three goal attempts from Boisen, two from Lasley and Young, and one from Saxton. Elija Rodriguez-Garza had 13 saves during the game.

Lasley is thankful for being able to play his senior year even through the pandemic.

“Senior season was not just a normal season,” Lasley said. “It was a little more hectic with COVID-19 being around. But even with all the set backs it was still a great season.”

He will miss taking the field with his teammates and is glad he created bonds with them over the years.

“I feel like we bonded a lot more between the boys,” Lasley said. “We’ve had our ups and downs but we stayed positive through it all.”

Lasley dedicates his life success to the hard work of the Kearsley soccer program.

“It’s been really the only thing that keeps me on the right track,” Lasley said. “If I hadn’t invested so much time and energy into soccer for the last 15 years who knows what I’d be doing. I decided to put all my energy into something positive for myself.”
